During the labor/birth process

A Doula will provide professional, non-medical, CALM, and clear headed support throughout the birthing process.
  • extra set of hands
  • consistent additional emotional support
  • help relax and focus mom during contractions
  • reminder of useful birth positions
  • make sure hot and cool compresses are available
  • gather and suggest use of birth balls, ribozo, squat bar, etc in the birthing room
  • make sure bath/shower are prepared for use
  • prepare music/video or other relaxation or focus items 
  • liaison between mother and family members
  • assist with directing partner/family members who are in birthing room
  • reinforce your birth plan while in the hospital
  • communicate with medical providers during labor
  • gather knowledge of procedures and make sure you are clear of risks vs benefits before making medical decisions
  • foster mother empowerment during birthing experience
  • Bottom line - I am there to support mom in whatever way she may need in order to foster a positive birth experience
